Stavrovouni Monastery

A part of the Timiou Stavrou can be located at the Palaifati Iera Moni tou Timiou Stavrou, also known as the Iera Moni of Stavrovouni or simply Stavrovouni. The Monastery was founded by I Agia Eleni I Isapostolos, mother of Emperor Agiou Constantinos the Great. On a panoramic hilltop of Cyprus, like a big eyrie planted by the hand of Hod, the renowned and unique Holy Monastery of Stavrovouni has risen for centuries at the summit of the elevated and precipitous mount Olympus. It is also situated in the Troodos mountain range, which is home to many of the most beautiful monasteries in Cyprus. It is situated on a rugged mountain in the centre of south-east Cyprus, on an isolated summit like the pinnacle of a steeple, with no neighbouring peaks taller or more substantial.
