The Old Church of St Marina is located in the south of the village. It was built in the 12 th century and retains a domed roof and a narthex (porch) that was added later on.
Several half worn-out frescoes are preserved in its dome. It is to this mediaeval church that community’s new church owes its name.
Within 100 meters of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Zoodochos Pigi, also known as “Panagia I Stazousa” and located in the village of Pyrga, there is a chapel dedicated to the Holy Forerunner. It is a basilica-style church made of native stone with a single nave and vault.

According to local tradition, the village’s most significant medieval monument is the tiny church dedicated to “Agia Aikaterine” that still stands (St. Catherine). This church is generally known as “Vasiliko pareklisi” (Royal chapel). Early in the 15th century, construction of the Royal CHAPEL of St. Catherine commenced. The structure is Gothic and dates to the 14th century (when the decline of Gothic art started). It has a rectangular shape with three entrances and an arched roof supported by three reinforcement levels. It is primarily composed of ruddy and emerald volcanic rocks from the surrounding area. There are numerous frescoes on the interior walls and dome. The St. Catherine’s Church in Cyprus is one of the most fascinating Lusignan relics. In recent years, the “Agia Marina” church was built next to the St. Catherine’s church.
Saint Spyridon’s chapel is situated in the “shadow” of the Holy Monastery of Stavrovouni, approximately 1,400 meters southeast of the village square of Pyrga Larnaka. It is perched on a small hill overlooking the town and a considerable portion of the Stavrovouni forest. It is a Byzantine-style cross-shaped church with a dome. The cross vaults are adorned with tiles in the style of the Byzantine empire and form arched arches. The exterior is constructed with stone and concrete bricks. The bell tower atop the corner formed by the western and northern walls is made of soft, chipped stone. It has a bell and is composed of two levels atop the roof.

The Old Church of St. Marina is located in the southern portion of the neighborhood. It was built in the 12th century and features a dome and a narthex that was added later (porch). Its dome contains a number of half-decayed frescoes. This medieval church is the inspiration for the name of the modern church. The costs of restoring the church of Agia Marina are being covered by the Antiquities Department, the Local Land Authority of Pyrga, and contributions from the “Leventio Paraskevaidio” centre and other believers. In the rear of the church is the village’s first spring, which historically supplied water to the entire community. In 1951, water-supply measures were enacted, and a second spring was constructed to facilitate the village’s water supply.
